Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Nicholas Associates. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our assembly cells, valve assembly lines, and pump lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain assembly cells, valve assembly lines, and pump lines to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless handovers and minimize downtime.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure products meet customer specifications.
  • Perform technical cleaning of equipment and repair/refurb components as needed.
  • Use self-diagnosing systems to identify and resolve errors.
  • Maintain tools and toolboxes to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform preventative and reactive technical maintenance on production lines.
  • Support the business with holiday/absence cover and provide training to colleagues as needed.
  • Be proficient in our warehousing software and system, including Laser Guided Vehicles and Pick and place.
  • Prioritize safety and quality on every shift and drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Work collaboratively with the warehouse team to ensure timely delivery of components to production lines.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety practices and adhere to housekeeping measures.
  • Lead and manage Senior Operators to achieve optimal performance.
  • Foster a positive team culture and communication across shifts and functions.
  • Collaborate with external software support to resolve issues and concerns with assembly machines.
  • Drive continuous improvement and productivity initiatives.
  • Participate in stocktaking and other reasonable requests made by management.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in automated or semi-automated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of valve assembly, actuator assembly, injection moulding, FMCG, automotive, or food manufacturing technologies/industries is advantageous.
  • Root cause analysis and fault finding skills are essential.
  • HSE knowledge and awareness are required.
  • Electrical/Mechanical experience is advantageous.
  • Analytical and basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Ability to read diagrams, technical drawings, and manuals.
  • Ability to fault find to component level.
  • Understanding and interest in continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of ISO9001/14001 and BRC standards.
  • Ability to understand production planning to ensure production flow.
  • Manual handling skills to handle boxes of components and pallets up to 10kg in weight.
  • Experience with '5 why's' is beneficial.
