About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage the communications space segment of the Moonlight programme. As a Space Segment Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the satisfactory implementation of the communications space segment in accordance with the defined cost, schedule, and technical objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Moonlight Communications Space Segment Team
  • Manage the development, qualification, and acceptance verification of the communications space segment
  • Oversee industrial work associated with the communications space segment procurement
  • Act as the focal point for the communications space segment industrial activities
  • Assume responsibility for communications space segment requirements and specifications
  • Manage communications space segment engineering aspects
  • Ensure readiness of communications satellites technology developments
  • Manage communications space segment manufacturing, assembly, integration, launch campaign, and verification
  • Monitor compliance and timely distribution of deliverable items
  • Support System Manager for service and system operational requirements
  • Ensure coherence of the communications space segment with security-related aspects
  • Support end-to-end system integration, testing, and service validation
  • Assume responsibility for evolution of the communications space segment
  • Support industry tailoring and application of communications space segment-related ECSS, international, and industry standards
  • Technical responsibility for communications space segment anomaly-handling
  • Definition and management of space segment R&D activities
  • Proactive monitoring of relevant schedules and identifying risk and problem areas

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Strong leadership capabilities and proven relationship management and communication skills
  • Ability to drive team performance and develop people
  • Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated planning and organisational skills
  • Result orientation with ability to set priorities and present practical solutions

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in managing complex space programmes up to launch and in-orbit testing
  • Experience in public-private partnership projects
  • International experience and experience in various functional areas relevant to ESA activities
