An exciting opportunity has emerged for a trainee Surgical Care Practitioner to collaborate with the breast, plastic, and orthopaedic teams. Training will occur across multiple healthcare facilities, and candidates must be willing to travel between these locations.

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis and welcomes applications from Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, or Allied Health Professionals.

As part of the role, the Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) will receive training to assess new patients at a specialized clinic. They will also manage follow-up care and family history patients through virtual consultations and will be trained to perform minor surgical interventions. Effective communication with patients and the multidisciplinary team is essential.

The trainee SCP will operate under the guidance of a Consultant Surgeon and a Surgical Care Practitioner mentor while adhering to the national curriculum framework.

There will be opportunities for Master's level study in breast examination and access to training courses provided by NHS Scotland Academy.

Throughout the training period, support will be provided to develop advanced clinical skills, along with regular opportunities to enhance personal skill sets.
