We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our operations team, responsible for ensuring the smooth production of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the production and engineering teams in the maintenance of current and future products manufactured in the UK and overseas.
  • Involved in assisting the operations team in supply management and sourcing.
  • Key member of the change management team, ensuring accurate item creation and manufacturing bill of material (BOM) accuracy from PLM to ERP systems.
  • Introduce new products into production, including planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks, generate production documentation, and organize and run pilot builds.
  • Inspect and review pilot build of finished goods made at contract manufacturers, ensuring works instructions are accurate.
  • Investigate reported production problems and customer-related issues/requests, generate a problem report with proposed corrective actions, and report into the change management team.
  • Implement changes to the production line, update documentation, and sustain the production of existing products.
  • Re-sourcing and the approval of parts from alternative suppliers as part of the engineering team.
  • Continuous improvement of production with regards to tools and working practices.
  • Maintenance of manufacturing bills of material, including creating manufacturing BOMs with the WindChill PLM system and updating changes in existing BOMs.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or an associated discipline.
  • 3D CAD proficiency and creation of 2D drawings, interpretation of 2D drawings, and a thorough understanding of design for manufacture.
  • A thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and their benefits and limitations, including wooden cabinets, metal fabrication, and injection molding.
  • The ability to focus on the details that are important to the customer and safety of the product.
  • Practical workshop skills, working knowledge of change management processes, and proven experience of using PLM's and manufacturing ERP's.
  • Ability to construct jigs and fixtures using basic machine tools, and experience in manufacturing ERP's with a good working knowledge of creation of parts, assemblies, and exploded bills of material.
