Job Title: Specialist Mentor

Are you passionate about empowering university students and helping them thrive academically?

Randstad Student Support is seeking dedicated Specialist Mentors to work with students in Aberdeen who have disabilities or mental health conditions. In this vital role, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in students' lives by providing personalized support that helps them navigate their academic challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students throughout the full academic year
  • Help students reflect on their experiences in study and introduce strategies to overcome barriers
  • Support students on a 1-2-1 basis to create strategies around organization and time management, break down tasks to meet deadlines, achieve a balance in study and daily living, manage anxiety, stress, or low mood, prepare for new experiences, and build on confidence and strengths to become an independent learner
Requirements:
  • Membership with one of the following professional bodies: BACP, BPS, HCPC, NCPS, NMC, SWE, SCW, UMHAN, or COSCA
  • Experience of working with clients with disabilities and/or mental health conditions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Relevant professional body memberships
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
