Location: Telford

Working Hours: 22:00 – 06:30 Sunday to Friday, night shift

Role Overview:

The Transport Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring that all compliance standards are upheld during the dispatch of drivers. This position serves as a primary contact for drivers to report any issues related to defects, loading, and routing. The role is essential for the smooth operation of daily logistics, facilitating quick resolutions to challenges and ensuring that the day shift is informed of any pertinent information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispatch drivers while verifying driving credentials.
  • Conduct agency inductions on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate defect repairs and emergency call-outs as necessary.
  • Complete handover action lists from the day shift and communicate relevant updates.
  • Provide updates on driver estimated times of arrival to relevant departments.
  • Analyze and resolve logistical challenges.
  • Address driver inquiries or relay them to the Transport Shift Manager.
  • Conduct return-to-work meetings with drivers.
  • Perform vehicle inspections.
  • Foster a positive and engaged driver workforce.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in administrative roles is required.
  • Previous driving experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Navision is a plus.
  • Experience in a role interacting with HGV drivers is beneficial.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft software is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently is essential.
  • Capability to motivate others in a demanding transport environment.
