Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at MidKent College. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our students with additional learning needs and/or disabilities to ensure they can access their study programme and achieve their full potential.
Job Purpose:The successful candidate will work effectively and confidently on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of young people to support their learning needs and/or disability in a classroom setting. You will promote social development through activities, clubs, and events in the social areas and wider college, providing opportunities for social interaction and the development of good communication, encouraging participation in small group activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Support students with additional learning needs and/or disabilities in a classroom setting
- Work effectively and confidently on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of young people
- Promote social development through activities, clubs, and events
- Provide opportunities for social interaction and the development of good communication
- Encourage participation in small group activities
- Relevant qualifications, e.g., Level 2 classroom support or willingness to work towards
- 5 GCSEs including passes in English and maths
- Experience of supporting young adults with a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities or a willingness to undertake training
- Experience of using Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to work in a manner to support the changing needs of students
- Good verbal and written English
- Good communication and liaison skills
- Strong commitment to team working
- Good digital skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours
