Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at a well-established family business with over 50 years of experience in manufacturing specialized canine nutrition. The successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering Manager and be based at our Stradbroke site, working a mix of earlies and lates, with some weekend hours (with paid overtime) as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Efficiently maintain and repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  2. Conduct diagnostic and fault-finding procedures to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  3. Perform routine maintenance and general upkeep of plant equipment, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
  4. Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns, providing timely and effective solutions.
  5. Collaborate with the Engineering Manager on small projects and continuous improvements, driving process efficiency and innovation.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and safety, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A high level of problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and a can-do attitude are essential for success in this role.

Desired Skills and Experience:
  1. Electrically qualified 17th/18th edition and a competent multi-skilled engineer with experience in FMCG or food industry, preferably with packaging experience.
  2. Ability to manage conflicting priorities and variations to workload, with a strong focus on quality and safety.
  3. High level of problem-solving skills, with experience working with industrial electrical systems, plant machinery, and automated packaging machinery.
  4. Understanding of electrical drawings, fluid power systems, and health and safety policies.
  5. Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively with staff and contractors, and maintain and update planned preventative maintenance schedules.
