Job Title: Employment Law and HR Consultant

Location: Leicester

Working Days: Monday-Friday

Pertemps Leicester is seeking an experienced HR Consultant to join their team. As an HR Consultant, you will provide employment law and HR advice to clients, ensuring they receive best practice and commercially practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide telephone and email advice on employment matters to clients.
  2. Ensure advice is commercially practical and explains associated risks and liabilities.
  3. Advise clients on complex employment law and HR issues, including redundancies, disciplinary procedures, and absence management.
  4. Work with the consultancy, advice line, and business development teams to deliver consistent services to clients.
  5. Account manage a small client bank within agreed service levels.
  6. Undertake client consultancy projects, which may require travel to client sites.
  7. Draft topical articles for publication on the company website and social media platforms.
  8. Support the out-of-hours service, providing 24/7 telephone cover on a rota basis.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Qualified or working towards Level 5 (desirable).
  2. Generalist HR experience dealing with complex employment and HR cases.
  3. Experience of drafting and advising on HR processes, policies, and procedures, with up-to-date knowledge of employment law and case law.
  4. Experience of working as an HR advisor and meeting deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  5. Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  6. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and autonomously.
  7. IT skills, including a working knowledge of Windows (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
  8. Driving license and use of own vehicle as travel may be required (desirable).

The successful candidate will be open and approachable, with effective decision-making and planning skills. Technical expertise is crucial, as is the ability to offer customer-focused, pragmatic advice while maintaining confidentiality. Tact, diplomacy, excellent oral and written skills are essential, as is a positive attitude. You must display integrity and professionalism at all times and be self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and work to tight deadlines.
