Job Title: Director of Engineering

Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Aircraft Services Business as a People Leader. As a technical expert, you will be responsible for developing high-quality cloud software solutions to support our aircraft systems. You will thrive on providing guidance to ensure that your team understands the business needs and enables them to solve technical problems, in collaboration with other engineering functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects. Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Management, Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors.
  2. Hold direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilize in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  3. Project Management Responsibilities for executing projects; managing the technical scope, schedule and budget whilst guiding the team to ensure the quality of the project outcomes.

Requirements:
  1. An appropriate degree or HND in a Technical or Engineering based discipline, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience leading engineering teams - preferably Software Engineers.
  3. Shows a logical mindset, alongside good problem-solving and solution-building skills.
  4. Demonstrable experience in executing technical projects within the required cost and schedule constraints.

Desired Characteristics:
  1. Prior experience of scalable cloud-based software development or management in Azure/AWS is highly desirable.
  2. You will be asked to participate in technical reviews within the Aircraft Services team to share technical knowledge and solutions, as well as even the end customer A positive attitude, initiative, pro-activeness and an enthusiasm and passion for software engineering will help you succeed in the department.
