About the Role

The Packaging Technologist role will create and deliver packaging solutions that will fuel incremental growth for Nelson's portfolio of brands globally.

  • Lead the packaging development on exciting innovation NPD projects for Nelson's brand portfolio as part of the 3-year innovation pipeline.
  • Help the Global Innovation Team to translate innovation concepts into clear product and packaging briefs.
  • Partner with R&D, supply chain, and external suppliers to develop exceptional products that meet these NPD briefs and iterate prototypes to ensure they delight consumers.
  • Attend first-off production or print runs at our manufacturing sites and at suppliers as required.
  • Develop shelf-ready packaging (SRP) and counter-top display units (CDU) in keeping with brand design and production capabilities.
  • Support the artwork team with timely approvals and advice where required on materials and print quality.
  • Provide technical guidance on all packaging-related matters and advise on packaging trends and our current state with respect to materials, sustainability, and waste management.
  • Help ensure all projects drive and support Nelson's ESG agenda.
  • Manage, maintain, and update all specifications for packaging, logistics (pallet plans) and technical drawings across the organisation.
Requirements

We'd love you to have

  • Relevant packaging development experience in Pharma, Cosmetics, Toiletries, or FMCG.
  • Passion for innovation and the implementation of new concepts and products.
  • Established working relationships with suppliers and industry experts within the Packaging industry.
  • Experienced in measuring packaging performance on production lines and quality control.
