About the TeamOur National Deaf CAMHS team is a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team comprising Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Systemic Family Therapists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, and Family Support Workers. We welcome deaf applicants and applicants who already have a high level of British Sign Language, and we provide specialist training and development to develop knowledge and skills for working with deaf children and young people.
We are well-resourced for remote working, and we have access to offices across the region, including in Wootton Basset and Selly Oak, Birmingham, and an admin office in Dudley. We arrange venues across the full region to see clients, and we have a lease car scheme and paid for accommodation if needed.
About the JobAs an Assistant Psychologist, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the neurodevelopmental work of our service, including assessments and follow-up work
- Supporting the planning and delivery of group work, which may involve some early evening sessions working remotely to enable parents to attend
- Working closely with clinicians and practitioners in multi-disciplinary teams, including deaf and hearing staff and BSL/English Interpreters
- Developing specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions, working flexibly across pathways of care in a variety of community settings
- Working with a varied caseload, under supervision, which will include carrying out specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions, working flexibly across pathways of care in a variety of community settings, and to work closely with clinicians and practitioners in multi-disciplinary teams
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Psychologist who is passionate about working with deaf children and young people and their families. You will have excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude towards working with deaf children and their families with complex mental health needs.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for an experienced Assistant Psychologist who meets the following criteria:
- At least 2:1 degree in psychology
- Desirable: BSL
