Job Description

Company Overview

Macildowie Recruitment and Retention is a dynamic and growing company based in the heart of the region. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Financial Accountant to join our finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Generate and review financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis to explain differences between actual and budgeted figures.
  • Reconcile key accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual statutory accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial performance.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, including the preparation of financial models.
  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary documentation for audits.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and ensure best practices are followed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or part-qualified, QBE also considered.
  • Proven experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within a corporate setting.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software's and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
