Position:
Special Educational Needs Officer (Focus on Preparing for Adulthood – Post 16)

Contract Duration:
6 Months

Weekly Commitment:
37 hours

Compensation:
£300-£400 per day

Work Arrangement:
Hybrid model with office presence on designated days and remote work for the remainder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and comply with the guidelines and statutory processes outlined in the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory timelines.
  • Manage and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Communicate with parents of children with special educational needs, SEND Casework Officers, health and social care professionals, Educational Psychologists, specialist educators, and school administrators. Maintain consistent updates for all stakeholders.
  • Draft clear, concise, and accessible EHC Plans.
  • Participate in annual reviews for young individuals aged 16 and above upon request.
  • Revise EHC Plans based on annual review outcomes.
  • Analyze sensitive and complex information from professional assessments related to individual children with special educational needs, health requirements, and social care needs.
  • Ensure EHC Plans fulfill legal standards and withstand external evaluations.
  • Identify and address any inconsistencies or gaps in assessment reports.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of best practices and procedures in the development of education, health, and care plans.
  • Prepare documentation to support mediation and tribunal processes.
