Lead DevSecOps Engineer

As the first Lead DevSecOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in integrating security and compliance into the DevOps process. This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience and comfort in a broad DevSecOps Subject Matter Expert (SME) capacity. Unlike traditional DevOps roles, this opportunity allows you to own the technical direction fully, make key decisions regarding tooling and technology, and ensure system uptime.

You will collaborate closely with the engineering team and engage with stakeholders across the business, potentially including client-facing interactions. Your responsibilities will also include leading discussions on AWS cost optimization and infrastructure strategy, focusing on embedding best practices in a highly regulated environment. This is a unique opportunity to shape both the technical and strategic aspects of the company's infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate security and compliance into the DevOps process.
  • Own the technical direction, tooling, and technology decisions.
  • Ensure system uptime and stability.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team and stakeholders across the business.
  • Lead discussions on AWS cost optimization and infrastructure strategy.
  • Embed best practices in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications:

  • Senior-level experience in similar DevSecOps roles with a proven track record of success.
  • Deep understanding of AWS, particularly well-architected account setups, shared VPCs, and best practices.
  • Strong skills in automation, particularly maintaining and enhancing processes using Terraform.
  • Experience with serverless environments (Lambdas, Docker, RDS, Aurora Serverless, Kafka).
  • Development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins.
  • Focus on cloud security, including data encryption and preventing data leakage.
  • Experience with compliance and governance, particularly in ISO27001 and FCA-regulated environments (a bonus).
