The Role: Hospital-Based Independent Domestic Violence Advocate
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our team at St. Hellier's Hospital in Sutton. This role offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide essential support to survivors of domestic abuse.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop personalized safety plans for victims of domestic abuse.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals experiencing violence or threats.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff, social workers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive response to survivors' needs.
- Advocate on behalf of victims within the hospital setting and facilitate access to relevant resources and services.
- Deliver group training sessions to educate acute staff about domestic abuse dynamics and best practices for supporting survivors.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of domestic abuse, its impact on victims, and effective intervention strategies.
