Financial Assistant – Renewi
Salary:
£30,000 - £31,000 per annum

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday

As a Financial Assistant, you will be an integral part of our finance team, providing a professional accounting service that supports various departments within the organization.

Your responsibilities will include processing journal entries, addressing inquiries from budget managers, and assisting with the annual financial closing process.

You will be tasked with balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring any discrepancies are thoroughly investigated, and allocating invoices to the correct projects.

Regular communication with budget managers will be essential as you support the development of budgets and forecasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of month-end financial statements, including posting accruals and prepayment entries
  • Executing bank payment runs
  • Compiling VAT and LFT returns
  • Assisting in the formulation of budgets, forecasts, business performance plans, and long-term strategic plans
  • Providing data for the annual audit
  • Generating manual invoices as necessary
  • Managing the creation and maintenance of purchase orders, including verifying orders from other departments
  • Supporting the weighbridge team with purchase order processing and resolving invoice discrepancies
Essential Qualifications:

  • AAT or QBE qualified (or equivalent)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Prior experience in an accounting role
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks under tight deadlines
  • A proactive approach to enhancing systems and processes, with a willingness to learn Renewi's IT systems (training provided)
  • Ability to foster and maintain strong working relationships within and outside the organization
  • Valid UK driving license
