Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pain Management Specialist to join our team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As an Acute Pain Lead, you will play a crucial role in providing expert assistance to multidisciplinary teams in the provision of high-quality care to patients.

You will work under the direction of a supervising Consultant and mentor, collaborating with other members of the clinical team and working within the Trust's policies and clinical guidelines. Your responsibilities will include assessing and examining patients, initiating and interpreting investigations, and recommending appropriate management.

You will also participate in ward rounds, medical triage, and clinics to assess and plan management for patients. Additionally, you will work with and support other healthcare professionals within the acute medical team.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Assess and examine patients to determine the best course of treatment
  • Initiate and interpret investigations to inform patient care
  • Recommend appropriate management for patients, including medication and other interventions
  • Participate in ward rounds, medical triage, and clinics to assess and plan management for patients
  • Work with and support other healthcare professionals within the acute medical team

Person Specification
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate Studies (Accredited UK)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Current and valid certification or re-certification of the National Certifying Examinations for Physicians Associates (Royal College of Physicians)
  • Experience working as a Physician Associate in a hospital or community setting
  • Registered on the Faculty of Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Body
  • Passed and completed 1 year postgraduate preceptorship
