Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Charity Operations Manager. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our night shelters in West and Southwest London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the smooth operation of our night shelters, ensuring that all guests receive a high level of care and support.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our volunteer teams, ensuring that they are well-supported and equipped to provide excellent service to our guests.
  • Monitor guest attendance records and shift reports, using data to inform decisions and improve services.
  • Respond to any situations or emergencies that arise, ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.
  • Adhere to our operational and health & safety policies, ensuring that all aspects of our work are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, including Overnight Project Workers, Caseworkers, and Operations Manager, to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Conduct nightly briefings for volunteers and staff, ensuring that everyone is aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Operations Manager, to ensure the good running of the project.
  • Ensure that the shelter van is well-organized and stocked, with all necessary supplies and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working within the homelessness sector or with similarly vulnerable people.
  • Ability to work in a compassionate and flexible manner, with a strong understanding of the needs of people experiencing homelessness.
  • Confidence in dealing with challenging behavior, with the ability to remain calm and composed in difficult situations.
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks, with a strong emphasis on safety and well-being.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to drive the shelter van.
  • Ability to speak additional languages, including but not limited to Polish, Romanian, Arabic, Spanish, French, Bulgarian, Russian, or Tigrinya.
  • Lived experience of homelessness, with a strong understanding of the challenges and complexities of this issue.
  • Relevant training certificates, including First Aid, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, and Conflict De-escalation.
