About Your New Role

Weightmans is seeking a Solicitor or Associate with 3-6 years of post-qualification experience to join our Specialty team in London. The successful candidate will specialize in professional indemnity and support the team in a broad range of substantial and challenging work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist partners and senior lawyers with their caseloads
  • Proactively manage cases with supervision
  • Prepare detailed and technical reports, correspondence, and court documents
  • Advise clients on issues of liability and coverage
  • Liaise with insurers, clients, experts, witnesses, counsel, and other parties
  • Ensure compliance with client service level agreements, relevant policies, and procedures
  • Support business development initiatives
  • Complete management information
  • Delegate to and develop trainees and paralegals
  • Assist with other work allocated by the Team Manager
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans' values

About You

  • 3-6 years of post-qualification experience or equivalent
  • Experience in insurance litigation and policy coverage analysis is essential
  • Experience in professional risk claims is essential
  • Understanding of commercial insurance policies, the insurance market, reporting arrangements, reserving philosophies, and the relationship between brokers, underwriters/insurers, and lawyers is essential
  • Previous secondment to or employment with an insurance organization would be advantageous
  • Ability to work to deadlines, prioritize, and manage a caseload, and work under pressure to deliver effective solutions
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • A commercial, solution-driven, and client-focused approach
  • Strong legal and analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude
  • Excellent IT skills
