Major Recruitment Oldbury is seeking a skilled Steel Operative to join our team in the Dudley area. As a Steel Operative, you will be responsible for operating an overhead crane to load steel coils onto a mandrel and feed it into the rolling mill. You will also be responsible for recording coils that are loaded and consumed throughout the shop floor computer system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate an overhead crane to load steel coils onto a mandrel and feed it into the rolling mill.
  • Record coils that are loaded and consumed throughout the shop floor computer system.
  • Load steel coil into uncoiler, sheer/weld new coil to previous one, and keep line moving.
  • Alert to quality issues.
  • Read and correctly use a measuring tape, micrometer, and caliper.
Requirements:
  • 1-2 year's industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Welding experience.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Effective communication reading, speaking, writing English.
  • Physically able to stand and walk for long periods of time, perform repetitive lifting 30lbs-50lbs, overhead reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling.
