Position Overview:
As a Fencing Instructor at Barracudas Activity Day Camps, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and enjoyable environment for children to engage in fencing activities. Your responsibilities will include:

Work Hours:
08:30 – 17:00

Compensation:
£405.69 – £530.76 per week, based on age, experience, and qualifications.

Reporting Structure:
You will report to the Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and organize fencing activity areas to create an inviting atmosphere for participants.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe experience for all children.
  • Conduct engaging taster sessions based on Barracudas Fencing training.
  • Utilize the Teambuilding manual to facilitate diverse and age-appropriate sessions.
  • Provide safety instructions and equipment demonstrations, ensuring compliance.
  • Actively supervise children throughout the day, including during breaks and meals.
  • Encourage full participation from all children in group activities.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to enhance session delivery.
  • Complete necessary paperwork related to fencing sessions on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Regularly check and maintain fencing equipment.
  • Ensure the overall welfare and safeguarding of children in your care.
  • Maintain a clean and organized site, ensuring all equipment is stored properly.
  • Guarantee the safe use of all equipment during sessions.

Qualifications:
  • Complete a complimentary 1-day Fencing+ course affiliated with British Fencing prior to employment.
  • Must be 18 years or older by the start of the contract.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
  • Provide satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Possess enthusiasm, organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Participate in a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete annual online training.
  • Attend an Induction Training Day before the first working season.
  • Assist with the end-of-camp pack-up process.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations by following guidelines and maintaining a proactive approach.
  • Organize and deliver activities suitable for the children's age and abilities.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities as per the timetable.
  • Maintain awareness of children's safety and whereabouts at all times.
  • Support camp systems, including registration and health protocols.
  • Serve as a positive role model, promoting healthy lifestyles and hygiene practices.
  • Report any child protection concerns to the appropriate authorities.
  • Make reasonable adjustments for children with additional needs.
  • Depending on staff availability, assist with Skills Builder sessions.
  • All staff may be required to support swimming sessions.
  • Be prepared to undertake various tasks as needed to meet organizational objectives.
