POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will drive the continuous enhancement of our Assembly operations. Your role will encompass overseeing vehicle programs from initial concept and design through to manufacturing feasibility and ongoing production. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Facility & Tooling requirements, Standardized Process Documentation, PFMEA & Process Control Plans, Layout Planning, and Statistical Problem Resolution. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest quality standards while ensuring the safety of all technicians. Additionally, you will collaborate with fellow engineers to foster Continuous Improvement within the assembly facility, delivering effective process and quality enhancements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and engage in improvement initiatives and value stream projects with diverse stakeholders across various business functions.
  • Participate in shop floor performance evaluations to gather intelligence on losses and defects, establishing priorities for action.
  • Own targeted improvement processes aimed at reducing losses within the plant.
  • Conduct data analysis and strategize key enhancements for critical metrics such as build efficiency, waste reduction, and process risk optimization.
  • Identify and support Continuous Improvement activities that add value, leading focused initiatives, Six Sigma projects, and FMEA risk mitigation efforts.
  • Stabilize and standardize production processes by defining escalation trigger levels for daily performance meetings.
  • Assist process owners in implementing new tools and improvement projects.
  • Assess the effectiveness of new tools and ensure their sustained application in processes.
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Develop, identify, and implement best practices.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to others in the application of processes and procedures that support standardized workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship and/or relevant experience in the Automotive/Aerospace sector.
  • Minimum ONC qualification, with HNC or Degree preferred. Relevant engineering experience, particularly in VCATS and advanced manufacturing, along with a strong understanding of problem resolution and data analysis is essential.
  • A proactive approach to adopting new ideas, especially in low-volume contexts, is crucial.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter or NX is advantageous.
  • Skills in AutoCAD layout drawing, 3D printing/model creation, data manipulation, and BOM management are beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to implement solutions, conduct root cause analysis, and manage change effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability in project delivery through continuous improvement practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to present compelling arguments and presentations on complex subjects.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience in problem-solving with a proven track record of success.
  • Good technical knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards challenges and change management.
  • A passion for continuous improvement.
  • Confidence in influencing others.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Kaizen, FMEA, and Poke Yoke is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A valid driving license is required.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK to other Aston Martin locations as needed.
