About the Role

Tdm Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with experience in land appraisals to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial to the company's growth strategy, combining traditional estimating duties with the essential task of evaluating potential land acquisitions for residential development.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately evaluating the cost of a project, and evaluating the cost to take on that project. The Estimator will be familiar with our competitive advantages as an organization and will be able to communicate those to our benefit throughout the bidding process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Cost Estimation: Preparing accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects, from initial feasibility through to project completion.
  • Land Appraisal: Conducting comprehensive land appraisals, assessing the viability of potential development sites, including performing financial modeling and cost analysis.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with the land acquisition team to identify opportunities and provide detailed financial assessments to support strategic decision-making.
  • Cost Planning: Analyzing project specifications, architectural drawings, and engineering reports to prepare detailed cost plans and budgets.
  • Market Knowledge: Maintaining knowledge of competitive advantages in the industry to aid bidding process.
  • Tender Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of tender documents, contracts, and procurement strategies to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Cost Control: Monitoring project costs, identifying potential risks, and recommending strategies to maintain profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Team Collaboration: Liaising with internal teams, including project managers, architects, and quantity surveyors, to ensure accurate and timely project delivery.
  • Industry Knowledge: Staying updated on industry trends, market conditions, and material costs to ensure competitive and realistic pricing.
  • Process Improvement: Supporting the continuous improvement of estimating and appraisal processes, contributing to the overall success of the company.
Requirements
  • The ideal candidate will have proven experience as an Estimator, with a strong background in land appraisals within the residential construction sector.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions are essential.
  • The candidate should possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in estimating software, financial modeling tools, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK construction practices, building regulations, and the land acquisition process is crucial for success in this role.
  • The Estimator should be a proactive and strategic thinker, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Experience in residential development and a deep understanding of housing market dynamics is highly desirable.
