Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Adviser to join our team at the Agnes Smith Advice Centre. As a part-time Adviser, you will play a vital role in providing welfare benefits, money, and housing advice to those in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on welfare benefits, money, and housing, drawing on your knowledge and experience.
  • Act on behalf of clients, calculating, negotiating, drafting, and writing letters, as well as making phone calls.
  • Ensure all work meets the centre's office manual, the Advice Quality Standard, and funding requirements.
  • Maintain detailed case records for continuity, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation.
  • Assist with social policy work, providing information about clients' circumstances and alerting them to social policy options.
  • Stay up-to-date with legislation, policies, and procedures, undertaking training and reading relevant publications.
  • Use IT for statistical recording, record keeping, and document production.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate a commitment to the aims and policies of the centre, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
