Job Title: HSEQ Consultant
Department: Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment
Contract Type: Permanent, salaried
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Compensation: £35,000 plus £4,074 vehicle allowance, 10% performance bonus, and additional benefits
Role Objective
The HSEQ Consultant will support the HSEQ Manager and Site Contract Managers in executing and upholding HSEQ policies, procedures, and practices across designated contracts, primarily within the Midlands region.
This position will provide on-site HSEQ guidance, fostering the development and implementation of best practices while ensuring compliance with organizational values and HSEQ policies. The Consultant will guarantee adherence to existing HSEQ regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of clients. They will cultivate effective relationships with on-site teams, client representatives, colleagues at other sites, and Central Support functions.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Delivery
- Actively promote Health and Safety to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for enhancement while maintaining service quality.
- Develop and refine HSEQ metrics aimed at surpassing client expectations.
- Meet business requirements while fulfilling client demands.
- Drive and achieve critical internal and client KPIs related to safety and training.
Team Collaboration
- Thoroughly understand both the business and client HSEQ programs, including incident reporting and safety audits.
- Conduct necessary behavioral safety audits and participate in site safety meetings.
- Provide timely HSEQ performance updates to the HSEQ manager utilizing appropriate tracking and data systems.
Empowerment Initiatives
- Establish audit schedules.
- Oversee audit activities, reporting findings and creating action plans.
- Conduct regular internal audits.
- Generate audit reports and action plans, ensuring follow-up on all action items.
Future Development
- Assist the organization in delivering in-house training in areas such as:
- Toolbox talks
- Manual handling training
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
Essential Criteria
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or higher
- Proficient understanding of current HSE legislation
- Prior supervisory experience
- Knowledge of Health and Safety processes and guidelines
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management systems
- Experience with Quality systems (ISO 9001)
- Understanding of Environmental systems (ISO 14001)
Desirable Criteria
- Formal internal auditor qualifications
- Degree-level education
- Experience with HSEQ systems management
- Knowledge of Environmental systems
- 'Train the Trainer' certification
- Experience in conducting internal audits and mentoring auditors
