Role Summary:

We are looking to hire a Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team. The primary responsibility will be to create mechanical engineering design packages, offering input and assistance throughout all phases of a project from initial sales to final installation. A significant portion of the role will involve converting and refining conceptual designs to align with the functional and contractual specifications of confirmed orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transform and refine conceptual designs into detailed designs that meet the functional and contractual specifications of confirmed orders, including specifications, calculations, and component selection.
  • Assist in the sales phase of projects by ensuring that conceptual design and tender preparation documents are delivered on time and meet quality standards for customer presentations.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Design Engineers to identify project requirements and develop detailed designs.
  • Coordinate with CAD draughtsmen to ensure that design packages are produced within the required timelines and quality standards.
  • Work with Architects and Structural Designers to identify project requirements and develop detailed designs.
  • Support the Project Manager during the installation, commissioning, and testing phases, ensuring timely production of all necessary documentation.
  • Conduct site surveys as necessary.
  • Engage with existing and potential customers and their representatives as required.
  • Participate in and, when appropriate, lead HAZOP and risk assessment studies.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management policies and procedures in all tasks performed.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Current knowledge of available engineering design software.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD drafting software.

Required Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (HNC/HND acceptable with substantial relevant experience).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related industry, such as Engine OEM or Building Services.
  • Knowledge of heating (hot water/steam) or cooling systems and associated services.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in MS Office.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Professional registration.
  • Experience in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and AutoCAD or similar drafting software.

This is a full-time permanent position with standard working hours of Monday to Friday, totaling 37.5 hours, including an unpaid hour for lunch.
