The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our shift team at Liberty Steel Group. As an Electrical Technician, you will play a critical role in the efficient operation of our rolling mill, ensuring the smooth running of our equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to breakdowns and perform fault finding to minimize downtime
  • Undertake planned maintenance schedules across a range of equipment
  • Work a mixture of day shifts, night shifts, and weekend shifts to provide round-the-clock support
  • Collaborate with the team leader and shift engineer to ensure effective maintenance and repair

Requirements

  • Hold a recognized Electrical apprenticeship (BTEC/ONC at level 3 AND HNC/HND or equivalent)
  • Experience with PLC investigation and interrogation (preferably Siemens S7)
  • Previous experience of completing work under calibration and industrial compliance systems
  • Experience of general electrical fault finding
  • Experience of maintenance of A.C. and D.C. motors, drives (up to kW), inverters, and overhead crane maintenance
  • Knowledge of and experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for reporting purposes
  • Working knowledge of 18th Edition IET regulations
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and work with technical data
  • Previous experience of PPM and reporting of PPM activities and breakdowns
  • Previous experience working with HV systems
  • Experience of working in confined spaces and at heights
  • A good understanding and knowledge of Health Safety Legislation with experience of adhering to safe working procedures, risk assessments, and permit systems
