About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Maintenance Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Highway Maintenance team, you will be responsible for planning, programming, and implementing highway maintenance activities in Richmond and Wandsworth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing highway defects, agreeing remedials, estimating, planning, and programming repairs
  • Measuring and agreeing payment applications made by contractors
  • Supervising works on the public highway and producing accurate site reports
  • Chairing meetings and monitoring contractors and their employees
  • Having good knowledge of CDM and other relevant highway legislation

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in contract management and highway specification contracts, as well as experience in street works and permitting on the public highway.

The ideal candidate will be a good communicator, able to deal with people at all levels, including members of the public, council officers, and councillors. They will also be able to attend to emergencies and planned works at short notice, which may include work at night or weekends.
