Position Title: CNC Machinist

Location: South Molton, Devon

Role Summary:

We are looking for a proficient CNC Machinist who will be tasked with the setup and operation of CNC turning and milling equipment to manufacture components in accordance with engineering specifications and established protocols.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all produced parts meet the required dimensions and will make adjustments as necessary.

Key Duties of the CNC Machinist:

  • Work closely with the pre-setter to confirm the correct tooling configuration.
  • Operate CNC machinery following detailed programs and work instructions via the DNC connection.
  • Load and configure tooling into CNC machines as needed.
  • Validate the precision of the initial part produced (first off).
  • Utilize appropriate measurement instruments to inspect components.
  • Rectify discrepancies by modifying offsets on the CNC equipment.
  • Maintain and secure "A Stamp" Approval status for machinery and processes.
  • Review the work of colleagues when required.
  • Independently troubleshoot issues in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, tools, 5S methodologies, and engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adapt to various machines and provide assistance to team members as necessary.
  • Exhibit flexibility in work schedules to align with operational demands.
  • Conduct Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on machinery.

Working Hours:
* 2-week rotating shift pattern, totaling 37 hours per week.

  • Week 1: Monday to Thursday 6am to 2pm, Friday 6am to 11am.
  • Week 2: Monday to Thursday 2pm to 10pm, Friday 11am to 4pm.
Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in setting up and operating CNC Turning and Milling Machines.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and understanding Geometric Tolerancing.
  • Skilled in utilizing various engineering measurement tools and techniques.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience in the aerospace sector is a plus.
  • Familiarity with diverse operating systems is advantageous.
  • Background in working with CNC machinery.
  • Knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
  • Apprentice trained or similarly experienced in CNC Turning and/or Milling.
