About the Role:

We are seeking a talented Junior Java Developer to join our Hertfordshire-based team at a leading retail software provider. As a Junior Java Developer, you will be working on various projects and responsibilities, including REST and SOAP web services, working closely with technical architects and development managers, contributing to testing, configuration and release processes, and participating in design and implementation decisions.

About the Company:

Our client is a well-established retail software provider with over 10 years of experience in the field. They have formed impressive partnerships with leading companies such as Klarna, Harrods, Sports Direct, and Tottenham Hotspur. They are looking to grow their team further with the addition of Junior Java Developers with 1-3 years of experience.

About the Team:

You will be working in a modern, agile, and friendly environment in the office 5 days a week. The team is made up of experienced engineers, including ex-Google engineers, who are happy to help and support your growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Java-based web applications
  • Work closely with technical architects and development managers to design and implement new features
  • Contribute to testing, configuration, and release processes
  • Participate in design and implementation decisions
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry

Requirements:

  • BSc in Computer Science from a Russell Group University
  • 1-3 years of commercial experience with Java and web application development
  • Java, Spring Boot, Microservices
  • Cloud hosting (e.g. AWS)
  • Containerisation (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Build tools (e.g. Maven, Gradle)
  • Working knowledge of XML or JSON
  • Working knowledge of at least one J2EE container (e.g. Tomcat)
  • Bonus: frontend experience (e.g. React, Angular, Vue)
