Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Clinical Psychologist to join our team at NELFT North East London Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive psychological service to children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.
  2. Work in partnership with schools to support children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
  3. Develop and implement treatment and management plans for schools, parents, children and young people being supported by the MHSTs using a range of specialist psychological interventions.
  4. Provide therapeutic interventions with due regard to issues of cultural, racial and religious difference and sexual orientation.
  5. Undertake observations of children in school settings as part of wider assessments.
  6. Participate in the audit, quality improvement, research and service evaluation, linking in with the clinical governance agenda.
  7. Ensure that a high quality, timely, accessible and evidence-based service is available to all service users who need it.
  8. Be responsible for continually monitoring and evaluating risk to/from children and young people in one's own caseload and during supervision/consultation discussions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Experience of working with children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of legislation, national and local NHS, Social Care and Education policies and issues of relevance to the patient group.
