Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Freight Customs Specialist to join our client's team. As a key member of the import and export compliance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the company's global logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation Management
Collect and verify all import and export shipping documentation, including airway bills, commercial invoices, customs documents, proof of delivery, HS codes, and EORI numbers, to ensure compliance with UK customs requirements.
Customer LiaisonCommunicate effectively with customers and freight forwarders to obtain missing documentation, resolve issues, and provide timely updates on shipment status.
Legislative ComplianceStay up-to-date with current legislation and export documentation requirements to ensure the company remains compliant with all relevant regulations.
Letter of Credit ManagementCollect and provide shipping documentation for letters of credit, working closely with internal finance, customer service, and compliance teams to ensure a thorough understanding of letter of credit requirements.
Chamber of Commerce LiaisonCommunicate with the Chamber of Commerce to apply for attested documents as required by shipping regulations.
Requirements
- Experience
Proven experience in import and/or export compliance, preferably within the freight-forwarding or in-house sector.
SkillsStrong knowledge of customs regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements.
EducationRelevant qualifications in logistics, customs, or a related field.
LocationCommutable to the Lutterworth area of Leicestershire on a hybrid working basis.
