Role Responsibilities
This role will assist TOM leadership in the upkeep and troubleshooting of systems and technologies associated with yard operations, as well as validating processes related to the systems utilized by field teams. As a TOM Specialist, you will engage in initiatives aimed at innovating and deploying automated solutions to enhance operational excellence in the logistics sector. A successful candidate will be exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of managing confidential information while effectively adapting to shifting workloads and priorities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with the operations team to identify and rectify issues with tools and systems.
- Taking ownership of all existing technologies and systems integral to TOM gate and yard operations, including those pending implementation.
- Providing technical support for tools such as ALPR, R4G, RFID, and LiDAR within TOM operations.
- Monitoring processes through technology to detect deviations from standard operating procedures.
- Piloting updates to existing tools and the introduction of new hardware, software, cameras, and computer instrumentation.
- Conducting in-depth analyses to uncover opportunities for process improvements in yard and gate technology utilization, enhancing efficiency and reducing processing time.
- Managing and communicating any performance issues related to systems.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% within a specified radius from your home location.
- Ability to lift up to 49 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Amazon's success in logistics is heavily reliant on the Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team. As a member of ATS, you will join a diverse group that plays a pivotal role in our operational success. Utilizing air, sea, and road transport, along with sortation centers equipped with cutting-edge technology, you will help ensure Amazon's transportation operates at peak efficiency. Our team captures and analyzes data to inform decision-making, driving innovation and efficiency within Amazon. We prioritize safety, recognizing that our people are our greatest asset, and leverage their expertise to ensure timely package delivery.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (1+ years of experience).
- 2+ years of experience in troubleshooting hardware technology involving various computer components.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or 2+ years of professional or military experience in a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment such as tracking devices, cameras, sensors, and PCs.
- 2+ years of experience in administrative support with project data management.
- Working knowledge of RFID, cameras, sensors, and tractor-based equipment and connectivity.
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment where outcomes may not always be clear.
- Proven history of teamwork and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
