Tool Maker

Join our team as a skilled Tool Maker to contribute to the safe design and manufacture of critical business tooling, fixtures, prototypes, and jigs needed to ensure output targets are met.

As a Tool Maker, you will work closely with the Engineering, Machine Shop, Assembly, Quality, Stores, and Planning Teams to deliver solutions to support the Rainham plant.

• Design and manufacture tooling, jigs, and fixtures as requested.
• Undertake or arrange maintenance on plant, production tooling, jigs, and fixtures as required or requested and develop preventative maintenance strategies.
• Manufacture prototype and special parts as requested.
• Recognise and report opportunities for tooling to assist/improve the manufacturing process.
• Recognise, remedy, or report failings in skills, equipment, or procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and good housekeeping standards.
• Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement.

• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of standard toolroom equipment including lathes, presses, grinders, milling machines, drills, welding, etc.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Good hand tool skills.
• Good housekeeping practices.
• Excellent skills in maths.
• Able to work as a team and independently.
• Sound methodical approach and be inquisitive for how things work.
• Correct usage of precision measuring equipment.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems preferred.
• Recognised engineering apprenticeship preferred.
• CAD experience would be an excellent attribute, ideally on SolidEdge or SolidWorks but not essential.
• Machine knowledge of Haas and Fanuc would be beneficial.
• Manual machine experience in lathe, mill, grinder, and bandsaw, etc.
