Fire Safety Officer Job Opportunity

Morson Talent is seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Officer to join our prestigious client's team in Winfrith, near Dorchester. This 12-month contract offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the organization's fire safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the appointed competent person for fire safety, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and review fire safety policies and procedures, ensuring best practice and legal compliance.
  • Implement actions from external fire risk assessments, conducting inspections of fire doors, exits, and exit routes.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including the Head of Infrastructure, EHS Manager, and Facilities Manager, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Report updates and progress on fire safety initiatives, serving as the point of contact for external fire risk assessors, fire alarm and extinguisher contractors, and the Fire and Rescue Service.
Requirements:
  • Good understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and DCLG guidance.
  • Working knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards.
  • Knowledge and experience of fire safety best practice and principles.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Recognized fire risk assessment qualification (NEBOSH, Institute of Fire Engineers, CS Todd, or equivalent).
  • Managing Fire Safety (Responsible Person) training.
  • Two years' experience working in fire safety.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Institute of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers at Technician/Associate level.
  • Fire Door Inspection Scheme Diploma (DipFD).
  • Fire Marshall train the trainer qualified.
  • Fire Door Inspection Scheme Certified Inspector (CertFD).
  • Confederation of Fire Protection Associations Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention or equivalent.
