About the Role

Farrans Construction is seeking a highly skilled Civil Design Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of our civil projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of designs from contract award through to completion, ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Provide clear direction to designers, monitoring progress and ensuring designs are coordinated and approved in advance of the construction program.
  • Review all design information to ensure compliance, buildability, financial viability, and temporary works.
  • Contribute to the management of risk and opportunity, and value engineering.
  • Resolve technical problems and design issues that emerge, sharing solutions with the wider team.
  • Actively work to minimize risk to the contractor from potential defects, hazards, and non-compliance.
  • Advise on protocol and procedures for formalized workflows for formatted information.
  • Implement BIM as required by the project, assisting the BIM Manager.
  • Support the client in their duties under CDM regulations and their obligations in the development of a design.

Requirements

  • Proven design coordination experience within the civils industry, with a strong understanding of modern construction techniques, plant, and equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of civil engineering projects.
  • Contractually aware and conversant with common forms of contract, including NEC and JCT.
  • Advanced knowledge of the complete MS Office suite, Asta Powerproject, and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in the use of document management systems.
  • Knowledge of MEICA integration into civils design and BIM experience.
  • Educated to degree level in a civil or structural engineering or related qualification.
  • Hold a manual full UK driving license.
