About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test Engineer to join our team at TÜV SÜD. As an EMC Test Engineer, you will play a key role in providing a comprehensive EMC testing service to a wide range of industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive EMC testing service, taking ownership of the set up and completion of EMC test projects.
  • Deliver accurate results to customers, ensuring high-quality testing and reporting.
  • Contribute to and initiate efficiency improvements, including the management, manipulation, and presentation of electronic test data for reports.
  • Perform EMC testing in both screened enclosure and in-situ environments.
  • Develop and evaluate test equipment and methods.
  • Generate test procedures, including photos and measurement uncertainty calculations.
  • Provide assistance to customers during the failure phase of their EMC test program and general consultancy prior to the start of the job.
  • Validate clients' requirements, which may involve site visits.
  • Assist the sales team with providing information to enable quote generation.
  • Develop as a specialist in a specific area of testing, such as rail, marine, or radio EMC requirements.
  • Provide training to engineers regarding specialist areas.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.

Requirements

  • An Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification or recent experience in a practical electrical/electronic engineering role.
  • A self-driven and enthusiastic approach, with a clear focus on high-quality results.
  • A motivation to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Ability to address testing in parallel with reporting.
  • Comfortable dealing with customers at all levels, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work offsite or conduct shift work, where required.
  • Computer literacy with good IT skills, particularly using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and bespoke test systems.
  • A full license and own vehicle to support offsite testing and shift working.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in an EMC Test Engineer role within a test house environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EMC Directive and/or relevant EMC test standards.
  • Experience running test projects from set up to completion, including the creation of reports.
