The Role

As a data-centric company, there is a strong focus on backend development and algorithmic tasks. You will engage in activities such as computer vision for image interpretation, building recommendation systems, manipulating 3D meshes, and conducting thermodynamic simulations. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in Python, though other languages will be considered if you have relevant experience.

They are looking for analytical thinkers and engineers who can confront complex challenges effectively. The role will initially involve developing straightforward algorithms, with a transition into more advanced machine learning tasks in the future, although they are not currently seeking machine learning specialists. The engineering team values individuals who can work independently and possess strong algorithmic expertise, covering all aspects from development to production, including end-to-end testing and CI/CD practices.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the complete development and implementation of algorithms that drive their core platform, encompassing design, coding, and deployment. Maintaining data processing pipelines, integrating external data sources, and creating user-friendly interfaces to simplify complex information for clients are essential tasks. Therefore, writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code is critical.

Testing, debugging, and troubleshooting will be integral to your role, with an emphasis on CI/CD methodologies, so experience in this area is advantageous. As part of a 7-member team, your contributions will be vital in design and architecture discussions, ensuring that their solutions are scalable, reliable, and high-performing. They seek someone committed to developing a deep understanding of their business objectives, ensuring your work aligns with their vision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with 3D geometry, computer graphics, and 3D computer vision techniques.
  • Understanding of machine learning methods and building physics.
  • Experience in deploying and managing runtime environments in Google Cloud Platform.

The compensation for this role is competitive, with a salary of up to £65,000, depending on experience. Additional benefits include 25 days of paid time off annually, plus an extra week off during the holiday season. Currently, they offer a 3% pension contribution, with plans to enhance this upon securing further funding, as well as the potential for equity.

The interview process consists of three stages: an initial conversation with the hiring manager, followed by an in-person case study exercise, and concluding with a meeting with the CEO.
