Job Title: Architectural Technician

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technician to join our team at the Education Authority NI. As an Architectural Technician, you will play a key role in providing architectural design and supervision services for various projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Carry out building and site surveys, and update estates records as required.
  • Develop briefs in consultation with authorized representatives of client departments.
  • Conceptualize and design buildings, develop plans, prepare design drawings, and coordinate production drawings, tender documents, and graphical information.
  • Submit schemes and collaborate with other statutory bodies, including DENI, The Planning Service, Public Health, and Building Control.
  • Analyze building codes, technical booklets, nZEB regulations, bylaws, space requirements, site requirements, and other technical documents and reports.
  • Coordinate and lead the input of Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Consulting Engineers throughout the design process.
  • Supervise contracts on site, chair site meetings, and record minutes for action as required.
  • Consider Health and Safety implications for individual or allocated projects by acting as a Principal Designer.
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments, pre-tender Health and Safety plans, and health and safety files.
  • Support other Project Managers when necessary and act as project lead to perform the duties of a Project Manager for allocated projects.
Requirements:
  • Experience in architectural design and supervision services.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, technical booklets, nZEB regulations, bylaws, space requirements, site requirements, and other technical documents and reports.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead the input of Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Consulting Engineers.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
