About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Solicitor to join our Children's Services team at The Cumbria County Council. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a vital role in providing expert legal advice and representation to support the well-being and safety of children and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and representation to children's social care teams, including preparation of cases for court and advocacy in the Family Court.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and assessments to inform legal decisions and ensure the best interests of children are protected.
  • Work closely with social workers, managers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external agencies, including courts, police, and other local authorities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to colleagues on children's law and procedures.
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor with experience in children's law and social care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
