Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Medicines Use and Quality Manager in advancing medication safety initiatives and ensuring robust clinical governance and risk management within pharmacy operations.
- Planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating the effectiveness of medication safety programs throughout the organization, working closely with the multidisciplinary patient safety team.
- Serving as the principal pharmacist for medication safety, actively participating in the medication safety committee, enhancing incident reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Overseeing clinical governance activities related to medications within the pharmacy, ensuring integration with the overall quality management framework.
- Supporting the management of Patient Group Directions, including their formulation, staff education, and governance maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

- Act as the Medication Safety Officer and engage with the National Medication Safety Network.
- Participate as a permanent pharmacy representative in Trust incident groups, providing expert pharmaceutical guidance on medication safety matters.
- Identify, develop, and advocate for best practices in medication safety, focusing on minimizing risks associated with specific medications.
- Collaborate with Clinical Service Leads, Consultants, and Pharmacists to ensure thorough evaluation and learning from medication safety incidents.
- Maintain expertise in medication safety, including initiating and facilitating research in this area.
- Support the pharmacy team in executing medication safety initiatives and risk management activities.
- Create opportunities for patient and caregiver involvement in medication safety efforts.
Qualifications
Essential
- Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent (or nearing completion).
Desirable
- Accredited Diploma Tutor status.
- Membership in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).
- Postgraduate Master's degree in Pharmacy.
Experience

- Proven expertise in hospital pharmacy.
