About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Examiner to join our team at Pearson. As a Principal Examiner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our GCSE Science assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the timely delivery of assessments and maintain high standards of quality assurance.
  • Lead standardisation and moderation activities, ensuring that examiners are trained and equipped to deliver high-quality assessments.
  • Develop and maintain assessment materials, including mark schemes and guidance.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to ensure that assessments are aligned with curriculum requirements.
  • Monitor and report on assessment performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Provide training and support to examiners, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality assessments.
  • Stay up-to-date with curriculum developments and assessment requirements, making recommendations for changes as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience in quality assurance and assessment development, preferably in a GCSE Science context.
  • Strong knowledge of GCSE Science curriculum requirements and assessment standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with subject matter experts, examiners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify areas for improvement, with a track record of implementing changes that drive positive outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and training skills, with the ability to motivate and support examiners to deliver high-quality assessments.
