Job Overview

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified dental nurse to support undergraduate teaching at Firth Park Dental Clinic and the consultant-led specialist dental teams at Wheata Dental Clinic.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive dental nurse support in the form of clinical and associated clerical duties to the dental team within the remit of the Community & Special Care Service. This will include assisting in the provision of oral health care, including prevention and health education to individual clients who may have learning or physical difficulties, mental health illness, be medically compromised, dependent elderly or have a dental phobia.

The candidate will act as a link person for the service and clinical staff providing oral care for clients who are unable to accept routine treatment and who require special care dentistry. This will involve providing inclusive care in community clinics and on a domiciliary basis in care homes, patients' own homes, and secure units.

Requirements
  • National certificate for Dental Nursing or equivalent NVQ 3 in oral health care.
  • Registered with the General Dental Council.
  • Experience of working with diverse client groups.
  • Assessing risk.
  • Working as part of a healthcare team.
Desirable Criteria
  • Personal safety training, conflict resolution, and violence and aggression training.
  • Post Basic Dental Nurse Qualification.
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Use of computerised dental systems.
