Funding Opportunity Overview

Award Range: £100,000 - £800,000

This funding initiative is designed to facilitate the transition from bioscience research to tangible economic and societal benefits. The Follow-on Funding (FoF) is aimed at projects that significantly leverage existing or previous BBSRC support.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the FoF, applicants must:

  • Demonstrate a direct connection to current or past BBSRC-funded projects.
  • Ensure that co-applicants are affiliated with eligible organizations and meet similar employment standards.

The principal investigator must:

  • Be affiliated with a UK research organization that qualifies for BBSRC funding, responsible for submitting the grant proposal.
  • Reside in the UK for a minimum of 183 days within a tax year.
  • Hold a lecturer or equivalent position at a recognized UK higher education institution, research council institute, or an independent research organization approved by UKRI.
  • Be employed at the submitting organization at a lecturer level or equivalent, or have plans to transition to the organization before the grant commences.
  • Have an agreement in place to conduct research at the submitting organization, akin to an employee at lecturer level or equivalent.
