Job Title: Technology Manager

At the Manufacturing Technology Centre, we are seeking a highly skilled Technology Manager to join our team. As a Technology Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and delivery of a specific function or the technical delivery of a large programme of work within part of the MTC's Technology Group or Industrial Sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in the same management team to deliver the objectives of the business unit or large project, influencing people outside your line management to drive the best result for the MTC holistically.
  • Work with senior managers to deliver the corporate objectives of MTC and lead or contribute to specific business initiatives or continuous improvement activities.
  • Work collegiately with High Value Manufacturing Catapult network of centres, MTC's academic partners & Members, and appropriate sub-contractors to strengthen our ecosystem's ability to support our clients and stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports and other colleagues as required to support the development of leadership and management capability across the business.
  • Adept at using Microsoft toolset: Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Technical expertise in ultrasonic inspection methods (conventional, phased array, guided waves, EMATs) and knowledge of additional NDT techniques, including:
    • Electromagnetic based inspection (Eddy current testing)
    • Thermographic inspection.
    • Radiation based inspection methodologies (2D X-ray, XCT).
    • Image based inspection methodologies (visual inspection, hyperspectral imaging).
  • AND/OR demonstrable technical expertise and application of technologies through previous project work, including tactile measurement technologies (such as CMMs), non-contact 3D point cloud gathering systems (such as structured light scanners, laser line scanners), and surface metrology technologies (such as focus variation, confocal and interferometry).
  • Awareness of how metrology and inspection can support broader Digital Engineering / Industry 4.0.
  • Strong reputation for understanding the breadth of Digital Engineering technologies and their respective manufacturing industrial applications.

As a Manager in the organisation, you will be involved in debating some of the policies, practices and values that are emerging from within the business and will be required to explain and champion these to effective implementation.
