Additionally, they will be responsible for developing verification and validation programs within the defence sector.

The role reports to the Systems Engineering Discipline Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Break down requirements to ensure they are detailed and partitioned appropriately for design initiation.
  • Collaborate with Specialty Engineering experts and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) stakeholders to ensure:
    • Compliance with regulatory standards, including safety and security requirements.
    • Design solutions that meet contractual obligations.
    • Accurate execution of all certification activities.
  • Contribute to the development of design elements that fulfill performance criteria within the overall system.
  • Manage and oversee assigned work packages.
  • Lead the engineering IVVQ team and serve as the primary contact for IVVQ activities with subcontractors and testing facilities.
  • Define methods and tools for integration, verification, validation, qualification, certification, and acceptance.
  • Compile results and evidence for review.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Requirement Management tools (e.g., DOORS).
  • Experience in IVVQ definition during the design and development phases of complex hardware and software systems.
  • Proven ability to create and lead verification and validation programs, including:
    • Establishing lifecycle processes and methodologies.
    • Defining IVVQ strategies and associated requirements.
    • Coordinating IVVQ activities, including trials.
    • Setting priorities and reporting on risks within IVVQ activities.
    • Conducting or organizing testing at manufacturer or client sites, or at Environmental Test Facilities.
    • Analyzing results and generating technical reports.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Demonstrated success in delivering solutions for defence programs.
    • Ability to collaborate across multiple product development and specialist teams.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with IEC61508 or equivalent safety standards.
    • Knowledge of ISO140001, Def.Stan00-051, or equivalent environmental standards.
    • Proficiency in tools such as Matlab, Simulink, and MathCad.
    • Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and related tools like Capella, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.
    • Experience with CAD software such as Creo, Catia, or SolidWorks for collaborative work with hardware engineers.
