Derventiouk Ltd is in search of a proficient and knowledgeable Automotive Maintenance Specialist to become a part of our Fleet and Operations Support team. In this role, you will be tasked with the effective upkeep and repair of our vehicle fleet, ensuring they are in optimal and safe working order to facilitate the provision of essential services.
Key Duties- Execute thorough inspections and diagnostics on a diverse range of vehicles to detect issues and malfunctions.
- Carry out advanced mechanical, electrical, and electronic repairs, including overhauls of engines and transmissions, brake system repairs, and troubleshooting using specialized diagnostic tools.
- Employ diagnostic software and equipment to assess vehicle systems and interpret fault codes accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as servicing, oil changes, and component replacements, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
- Offer technical support and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices, sharing expertise and best practices to improve team efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and contractors for the acquisition of parts and equipment, ensuring cost-effective solutions and timely repairs.
- Maintain precise records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts usage, labor hours, and vehicle histories.
- Engage in training and development opportunities to remain updated on new technologies and industry standards.
- Guide and support apprentices and Vehicle Technicians as necessary.
- Conduct inspections and repairs as required.
- Communicate effectively with operational users to fully understand the nature of vehicle faults or issues.
- Perform mechanical and welding repairs as necessary.
- Plan and organize maintenance activities, some of which may affect other departments or services.
- Ensure safe practices when handling vehicle air conditioning systems.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to identify vehicle faults and execute necessary repairs.
- Comply with relevant policies, legislation, and standards, suggesting improvements to working practices as needed.
- Maintain compliance with legal requirements related to waste disposal from vehicle maintenance activities.
- Promptly report risks such as accidents or incidents and participate in mandatory training sessions.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Experience with diagnostic software and tools.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective communication with suppliers and contractors.
- Familiarity with vehicle service and repair manuals.
- Compliance with waste disposal regulations.
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning and development.
