We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Lead Data or Software Engineer to join our team at Optima Partners. As a key member of our bioinformatics team, you will play a critical role in advancing our capabilities in data science and statistical genetics.
Key Responsibilities- Thought Leadership: Provide expert guidance on best-practices around data and computation architectures for on-prem and cloud environments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement data or software solutions that align with our business strategies.
- Programming Expertise: Utilize programming languages such as R, Python, and others to implement and manage data ingestion modules, ensure robust data processing pipelines, and build databases and/or warehouses.
- SQL Query Optimization: Write efficient and optimized SQL queries for data manipulation and analysis using platforms like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or Postgres.
- GUI Development: Build and maintain GUI, dashboards, and website front-ends to enable user-friendly exploration of data or execution of data science workflows.
- Microservices and APIs: Confidently design and implement Microservices and APIs.
- Data Management and Compliance: Ensure the integrity, security, and confidentiality of genomic data in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers and other team members.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline. Advanced degree such as PhD is preferred.
- Experience: More than 5 years of experience in the life sciences industry for a Lead position or at least 3 years of experience for a Senior position, preferably with expertise in genomics and/or genetics data sources.
- Skills: Proven experience in designing and building robust data pipelines and architectures. Proficiency in R and/or Python, and other programming languages. Solid understanding of data governance, data security, and data management best practices.
