Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Arboricultural Officer to join our team at Kirklees Council. This role is pivotal in the conservation, management, and enhancement of our green infrastructure.

About Kirklees

Kirklees is a vibrant area in West Yorkshire, known for its diverse natural landscapes that encompass former mill towns, picturesque villages, and expansive Pennine countryside adjacent to the Peak District National Park.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys and evaluations for Tree Work applications.
  • Prepare and implement Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs).
  • Provide expert guidance during development discussions and planning applications.
  • Manage a personal caseload of Tree Works and offer support to colleagues regarding tree-related developments.
  • Assist in the systematic review of Tree Preservation Orders.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of tree protection and management practices, TPO legislation, and relevant planning policy guidance. Experience in tree-related case law is also essential.

You will be part of a collaborative team of specialists, reporting to the Team Leader for Conservation, Design, Ecology, and Trees, and working closely with the existing Arboricultural Officer.
